IN-HOUSE, NOT AGENCY
A packing service in Kent with our own team
Every packer who comes to your home is employed, trained and uniformed by Rubix. We never use agency or casual staff, so the people who pack your kitchen work for the same company as the crew who load the Luton.
We agree the timing at your survey: usually the day before the move, or on the morning itself. Packing goes on the same quote as your house removal, so there is one plan for the whole job.
Going into containerised storage at our Chatham depot first? We pack for the container, so nothing is repacked before it goes in. We pack for house moves across Medway and Kent, including Maidstone removals and Sevenoaks removals, and for long distance moves anywhere in the UK.
Full packing or part packing?
Full packing covers the whole house. Part packing covers the rooms or items you hand to us. The same team does both, with the same materials, and the survey settles which suits your move.
Who chooses which? Full packing suits larger homes, short-notice moves and anyone who would rather hand the whole job over. Part packing suits households happy to pack the easy rooms themselves.
Packing yourself? Start with the right bundle
Each bundle in our online shop is sized to a home, with double wall boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap, tape and a marker pen in one order. Pick the closest match and top up with single items if you run short.
Somewhere between a student room and a two bed? The Small Flat Moving Bundle has fifteen boxes in three sizes. Single items, including the Drinks Bottle Box, white packing paper and brown tape, are in the shop too.
THE RIGHT BOX FOR EVERY ITEM
What we pack and how
Our team packs with the same double wall boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap and tape as the bundles in our online box shop, plus hanging garment boxes for wardrobes. The method changes with the item.
Kitchens
Plates and bowls are wrapped in paper and packed on their edges in small boxes, heavy at the bottom, light on top, and labelled cupboard by cupboard.
Glass and china
Glasses go one to a cell in divided boxes, like the Drinks Bottle Box in our shop. Ornaments and china are wrapped one at a time in paper and bubble wrap.
Wardrobes
Clothes stay on their hangers and travel in hanging garment boxes, rail to rail. Folded clothes and bedding go into large boxes or bedding sacks.
Pictures and mirrors
Frames and mirrors are wrapped in bubble wrap with the corners covered, then packed and carried upright, never flat.
Electronics
Televisions, computers and sound systems are wrapped and boxed with their cables bagged and labelled. Original boxes are used where you still have them.
Books
Books are heavy, so they only go into small boxes, packed flat to protect the spines and keep each box light enough to lift.
Packing FAQs
When should I start packing?
If we are packing for you, there is nothing to do before we arrive except set aside what is travelling with you. If you are packing yourself, start as soon as your date is set, with the rooms you use least, and leave the kitchen until the final days.
Do you bring the materials?
Yes. The team arrives with the boxes, paper, bubble wrap, tape and garment boxes the job needs, all listed on your quote after the survey. You only buy materials for the rooms you are packing yourself.
Can you pack just the kitchen?
Yes. Part packing can be the kitchen alone, or the kitchen plus the glass, china and pictures elsewhere in the house. Tell us at the survey and it is added to your quote.
What about items you cannot take?
For safety we cannot move gas bottles, aerosols, paint, firearms or anything else dangerous or explosive, and we do not carry plants, perishable food or animals. Jewellery, watches, cash, deeds and important documents should travel with you. Fridges and freezers need to be emptied, defrosted and cleaned before we arrive.
